Captain's Message - 17th March 2024

Can I take this opportunity to update you on a few matters.

Clubhouse Roof Repairs

As part of our clubhouse upgrade plans for the 2024 season, work will shortly commence on the much needed clubhouse roof repairs. It is anticipated that the work will take approximately a week to 10 days, but this of course will be weather dependant.

DPC Roofing will be erecting a scaffold tower at the front entrance to facilitate the work and members are asked to be careful approaching this area. Your patience with the ongoing work in greatly appreciated.

Charity Presentation

We consider ourselves not just a family club here at Kirkintilloch Golf Club, but one which should always endeavour to engage with the local community. It was therefore my great pleasure this Friday (15 March) to meet with our clubs 2023 charities. Representatives from East Dunbartonshire Food bank, Rookie Minds Youth Club and Beloved Rabbits attended at our clubhouse and were presented with the sums of £925 each. I was asked to pass the message that our support is greatly appreciated by these charities. Log on to our Facebook page to see the photographs.

I would like to pass on our thanks to our Social Convenor Dean Stewart for all his hard work throughout last season but also you, the membership, who have repeatedly supported the events that raised the charity money. This season we have already had a great start to our social calendar with what was an excellent Rod Stewart Tribute act and this will be followed on 20 April by the popular club quiz which this year includes Bingo and Play your cards right. So, get a team together and join in the fun.

Membership Renewals

Subscriptions are being received at very healthy levels and we are attracting new members on an almost daily basis. It’s clear that the reputation of the design and condition of our great course remains high. I’d like to remind everyone that the deadline for renewal payment is 01 April 2024 and you can pay in the Pro shop, clubhouse bar or online if you have digital banking, as previously stated.

This is an extremely busy time for the Business Council, Green staff, Bar and Catering and club professional preparing the club and course for the start of a new season and I would just like to record my thanks to them for their efforts.
