Dear Members and Friends,
The moment has finally arrived - that I know each and every one of us has been waiting for. Tomorrow morning at 7.30am we will have the pleasure of returning to the Course and the sport we love and cherish.
During these past nine weeks we have been through together one of the most challenging periods in the Clubs 125-year history and we have many challenging days still ahead of us. We are also aware of the wider sacrifice that our wider community has endured.
However, tomorrow is a day for celebration and we hope that all of those fortunate to have secured a tee time tomorrow and in the days ahead find renewed joy from walking the fairways - and I hope your golf gives cause for celebration! Please share your moments of joy on the course (still maintaining social distance) with us on social media. Euan will be delighted if you forward any photographs that you may have quickly taken.
I would also like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to our remarkable Green Staff who have continued to do essential maintenance on the course during the lockdown. Can I please ask that you acknowledge their work and endeavours in presenting the course in the condition you will find it in? A simple wave from a distance or a thumbs up is all I ask from you. As well, I would like to thank your Business Council who have been meeting every week in a virtual way and have been of great support to me in helping to guide and lead the Club through the latest chapter in the Clubs already incredible history.
Most of all I would like to pay tribute to you, our members and also our sponsors and friends who have stood beside us during this period - I can at this moment do no more than say a heartfelt - Thank you to each and every one of you. You have showed the true and real meaning of Perseverance in Hope and I could not be prouder to hold to hold the office of Club Captain at this time. We hope that our video tribute over last weekend goes a small way to express our deep gratitude for standing together with us, once again thank you.
So, for now please relish the golfing days ahead, enjoy the great weather, follow the new guidance closely and enjoy the (socially distanced) company of your friends again.
I send each and every one of you my eternal thanks and best wishes, not only for now; but for whatever is ahead of us all.
Yours in Golf
